BAYELSA DEPUTY GOVERNOR URGES INEC TO IMPROVE ON ITS LOGISTICS

BAYELSA DEPUTY GOVERNOR URGES INEC TO IMPROVE ON ITS LOGISTICS

Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to put in place, adequate logistics to ensure that every eligible voter get his or her voter’s card so as to that vote in next year’s general elections.

The deputy governor stated this at his pooling unit at Nembe when he wanted to obtain his permanent voter’s card but could not do so because his card was not available even though, his name and other details were found in the voter register.

He however, used the opportunity to call on the people of Nembe Local Government Area and indeed, Bayelsans to take advantage of the exercise by coming out to get their voter’s card and also encouraged those that have not registered at all to get registered at the appropriate time in order to participate in next year’s general elections.

Also speaking, the member, representing Nembe Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Jonathan Oboibitei, pleaded with INEC to consider an extension of time for the collection of the permanent voter cards, stressing that the time allotted for the exercise was too short, given the numerous complaints, in order to avoid disenfranchisement of eligible voters.

He also said the people of his constituency have been effectively mobilized to participate in the exercise.
