ANOTHER BIG SET BACK TO APC IN BAYELSA AS SYLVA'S DEPUTY OTHERS DUMP SYLVA, SUPPORT PDP AND GOV DICKSON.
APRIL 29, 2014.
There are strong indications that some key members of the All Progressives Congress and loyalists of former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, have dumped him.
The loyalists have therefore switched party loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party. The defected loyalists have also declared support for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Prominent among persons that left Sylva is his former deputy, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, and many persons that served in his cabinet as commissioners and special advisers.
The aggrieved persons numbering about 70 took their decision under the auspices of the Ex-Bayelsa Government Officials Forum.
They declared that their former boss was on his own in his romance with the APC and other tirades he launched at President Jonathan in recent times.
It was learnt that persons involved in the move were unhappy that Sylva failed to consult them before declaring himself the APC leader in the state.
Members of the group said they had suffered political marginalization in the PDP because the ruling party thought they had defected to APC along with Sylva.
Investigation indicated that the Sam Inokoba led PDP had been mandated to meet with the group.
The meeting it was learnt had been fixed for Wednesday at the state party secretariat in Yenagoa.
EBGOF comprises former Secetary to the State Government, Gideon Ekeuwei; former Commissioner for Information, Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo; former Special Adviser on Economic Planning, Michael Amaegberi; former Special Duties Commissioner, Mr. Kesiye Frank-Oputu and former Commissioner for Employment and Conflict Resolution, Mr. FitzGerard Olorogun.
Other members are former Commissioners of Finance, Mr. Stephen Ogulah; Health, Mr. Benson Dagidi; Commerce and Industry, Mr. Kenigua Ibomo; Sports and Social Development, Opukiri Jones-Ere.
Also, former Political Adviser, Mr. George Fente; the former Personal Assistant to Sylva, Austin Adigio and the and former Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Ben Eyororokumoh, among others.
It was further learnt that the group had former state legislators, including the former House Committee Chairman on Information, Chief Robert Enoa, as members.
The decision to dump Sylva for Jonathan was taken at different meetings held by members of the group in Abuja and Yenagoa.
While Seibarugu was said to have been nominated as the leader of the group, Ekeuwehamas was said to have been given the deputy leader.
The agreement was contained in a letter written by the group to the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu, the President and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, the State Chairman of the Party, Col.Sam Inokoba (retd) and the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson.
The letter which all the members signed, clarified that they did not dump PDP along with Sylva.
