BAYELSA STATE GOV'T EXPRESSES APPRECIATION TO J.I.L. MEDICAL TEAM

Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd) has expressed the State Government’s appreciation to members of the Jesus-is-Lord Medical Mission, Chicago, United States for collaborating with the state government in the health sector.
Speaking at a State Banquet in honours of the visitors, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah(rtd), noted that partnering with non-governmental organizations, such as the J.I.L. Medical Mission, will go a long way in improving health-care delivery services in the state.
He also remarked that the State Government is very keen in the health sub-sector and has initiated a number of programmes in that sector such as the recently launched health insurance scheme to ease accessibility to health services in the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner of Health, Dr Awoli Anapurere disclosed that the J.I.L. Medical team visited five local government areas while in the state, namely, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw, Yenagoa, Nembe and Ogbia as well as the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri.
In his speech, the leader of the team Dr Ayo Akere said that the team was satisfied with the various health programmes of the State Government, adding that in the next 10 years, given the current momentum, Bayelsa would be able to achieve most of the parameters in the health-care delivery.
